Staircase fitted….oak handrail protected with bubble-wrap….oak panelled doors treated with Danish Oil….ironmongery fitted….and doors hung. Pibbles Nook was coming to life…..
Early in 2015 renovation continued with the interior of Pibbles Nook……underfloor heating was put in both upstairs and downstairs….walls, cavities and roof space were insulated and plaster-boarded… and the electrician completed the first fix. Work was progressing although not as fast as we had planned ……
Renovation began in the summer of 2014 at Cracroft ….. an outbuilding needed to be extended to provide the accommodation we had planned for Pibbles Nook….the site was excavated and cleared….foundations put in…..drains laid…..an outside wall had to be removed before the floor slab could be laid….bricks were then laid to create the new outside wall of the new dining/sitting area….. part of the existing roof was retained and modified, and new attic trusses fixed over the extended part …..Velux roof lights were put into the newly created upstairs rooms and the roof felted and tiled….the work took 7 months to complete and we were water tight by Christmas 2014…..
I have been a member of the Institute of Hospitality ( formerly HCIMA) since qualifying in hospitality management in the 1970’s. During my training I specialised in accommodation management and throughout my career have worked in the accommodation sector of the industry and education. Interior design is a personal interest of mine and I am passionate about providing high standards to achieve a quality experience for all guests. Pibbles Nook has been newly renovated by my husband and I, and our aim is to provide a warm welcome to exceptionally clean and comfortable surroundings and make your stay an enjoyable and memorable one. The accommodation nestles in the delightful village of Empingham, and has been furnished in a palette of neutral, calm colours, with design touches and attention to detail throughout to provide self-catering with the luxury edge. Over the next five weeks, leading up to the opening on Friday 25th March 2016, I will share the journey we have been on to bring my dream to fruition…
Bookings are now being taken for Pibbles Nook from Easter 2016 onwards.
